Executives at Sony say they will streamline the firm's struggling mobile communication business and want to turn it around in fiscal 2016.
The business is expected to record an operating loss of more than 1.7 billion dollars in the current fiscal year through March.
This is due to poor sales of smartphones, mainly in emerging economies.
The firm has already said it will cut 1,000 jobs in its smartphone division around the world.
On Tuesday, the officials announced additional measures. They include reorganizing of the head offices of Sony's mobile communication business in Tokyo and London, and 13 sales offices around the world.
Sony Mobile Communications President Hiroki Totoki said the reforms are aimed at returning the division to profitability in fiscal 2016.
