Wanted to do a small and quick edit on one of the few times the US and Russia trained together post-collapse. Oh what a world it would've been if this kept up. Of course, I couldn't find nearly enough footage, so there is some 90's former-soviet country joint exercises with NATO and other friendly clips added. I hope you guys enjoy one of the calmest moments in post-Soviet history, and thank you all for the support! God bless!
From AP News, August 18, 1994:
"Five hundred U.S. and Russian soldiers will hold joint peacekeeping exercises next month in Totskoye, Russia, in the first of a series of such maneuvers, the Pentagon said Thursday.
The Sept. 2-10 event is aimed at honing a variety of capabilities, including setting up demilitarized zones, handling sniper fire and dealing with roadblocks in peacekeeping areas, said Pentagon spokesman Dennis Boxx.
The exercise will include 250 soldiers from the U.S. Army’s 3rd Infantry Division based in Schweinfurt, Germany, and an equal number from the Russian Guards Motorized Rifle Division headquartered in Totskoye.
The exercise will be dubbed Peacekeeper 94 and was first agreed upon in meetings between U.S. and Russian defense officials last year.
A second exercise is planned for the United States next year as part of a series that could eventually lead to combined U.S.-Russian peacekeeping operations, the Pentagon said.
U.S-Russian naval exercises have been held in the past few years, but no such events for ground troops, Boxx said."
