On 26th of December 2015 the LIGO detectors picked up a second gravitational-wave signal, dubbed "GW151226", from yet another pair of merging black holes. Read all about the discovery here: [ Ссылка ]
This artist's animation shows the merger of two black holes and the gravitational waves that ripple outward during the event. The black holes are those from the GW151226 event — they were 14 and 8 times the mass of the Sun, until they merged, forming a single black hole 21 times the Sun's mass. The energy from one solar solar mass was radiated away as gravitational waves. In reality, the area near the black holes would appear highly warped, and the gravitational waves would be difficult to see directly.
