This Monday Rub features JB, Garry, Spud and Damo interviewing Spud's nephew James "Chip" Frawley, particularly regarding how Uncle Spud commentates when Chip does something wrong. He acknowledges that it's okay if Uncle Spud bags him, because that's just how the Frawleys roll. And do you think Spud holds back? No, he freely says his nephew sometimes spectates the ball. And he then admits he texts every now and then to help Chip out with his game, including taking him to lunch for a chat, which Garry thinks might be charged to the Coaches Association account! There's the obligatory mentions to Chip's attire, with admiration towards his shoes and some criticism towards his black ankle socks. Yet, when they look at Spud, he has the same socks. We then cut to some talk about Chip, with Damo revealing St. Kilda is very much into him. Garry gets his back up IMMEDIATELY about how he is contracted at Melbourne, and Damo quickly points out that it happens with plenty players that are contracted and Chip should be treated no differently. And he even says that Chip should consider it because Melbourne is a rabble. This is when Spud jumps in to defend his nephew, but what the two back row commentators don't realise is that Damo isn't suggesting he's going to go, but merely pointing out there's interest. Listen to Garry have his sook like a petulant little child. The funny bit comes when Garry asks if North is a good option for a departing player and Damo, a huge North man, wonders if even that is a good place to go right now, prompting Jim to point out that Purple is the biggest 'week-by-week' operator around. Well said.
