Do you consider yourself a great rhythm guitarists but not a lead player? Or are you a beginner musician and want to jump into learning how to play guitar solos?
In this video, I'm giving you my 5 SECRETS on how to WRITE and CONSTRUCT your own guitar solos!
I know many guitarists, some great friends of mine, that have said...
'Dude, I just can't seem to play guitar solos, but I'm a great rhythm guitar player!'
First, I want you to get that thought OUT OF YOUR HEAD...like, seriously...do it NOW!
This is a mindset shift that you must make today!
Now, let's get on with the 5 secrets of how you can become a better lead guitarist!
1 - Pick a key (I'm gonna pick one for you!), and find the lowest note in that key, then the octave (for the sake of simplicity, let's go with Em, our lowest METAL note!). Then play all the notes starting with the lowest to the octave note. You will be able to tell if it sounds right or not (follow the guitar tabs in the video).
2 - Now I want you to find the next two octaves and play all of those notes in between like you did in 'secret' 1.
3 - Go back to the first octave but this time I want you to play something different (see the guitar tabs in the video)
4 - Let's make it more interesting. Instead of playing that same 'low to high' note sequence, we're gonna change things up (you'll learn to play this in the video!)
5 - You will now change it up even more!!
The idea here is to BUILD YOUR CONFIDENCE! Now you know over 22 notes that you can play in the key of Em (or really any key). And you have these concepts that you can apply and learn to play more guitar solos!
***IMPORTANT: I want you to now play these notes and patterns, but add your own flavor! Add more notes, take some away, do some different things, add finger tapping, hammer ons, whatever!
This is going to help you become a phenomenal guitarist, and will help you transition from just a rhythm player to a lead player!
