Just received and installed a new Franklin Armory BFS-III AR-C1 binary trigger into a Springfield Armory SAINT pistol. Basically, a binary trigger fires a round when the trigger is pulled, AND when the trigger is then released.
So, for each pull of the trigger ... BOOM, BOOM. Instant "double-tap" if you will. Takes some getting used to. To clarify, the trigger has three positions: SAFE (NO BOOM), SEMI (BOOM) and BINARY (BOOM, BOOM).
I experienced a few malfunctions, so I'll need to troubleshoot and tweak things a bit. Probably a buffer spring issue. Trigger kit comes with an upgraded buffer spring (two, actually) so I might try the other spring, or maybe even the Springfield original spring, see if they perform any better.
Is this now an automatic (aka "full auto") firearm? No. It is still a semi-automatic firearm ... pistol in this case. No special permits or licenses from ATF required. Not a NFA or SBR. Completely legal to own, possess and use ... at least in those states that allow AR-style pistols. To my friends and family in CA ... yeah, sorry ... I don't think you can have one. 😉
The trigger installation is pretty straight forward. You don't need to be a certified gunsmith, nor use any special tools. Plenty of videos available on YT demonstrating how to remove and install the AR trigger and safety selector.
With practice, a person can put a lot of hot lead on target in a short period of time ... if need be. 😉
