Artwork by Take me Back Pirate Radio Archives. DJ Dlux was an established as DJ and producer on the drum & bass circuit. Producing tracks like, "Mr Bond", "Da Warnin", "Mr Bond Remixes", "Dub Fe Dub" and many more.
Although he had his roots in hardcore/Jungle. A few years Dlux would crossover to the UK Garage scene. Going to Chicago FM 90.6 and then Deja Vu FM 92.3. Also producing Garage under the collective name of Dek Collectors, with Rob D'Riche.
Riko Dan was known on the circuit for his venomous flow. He was a raw street MC and a real mic man. His dark lyrics influenced a lot artists that later came on to the scene. In 1996 Pressure FM would go off air and many of it's DJs and MCs either spilled over on to Rinse FM 91.8, or, Rude FM 104.3. Riko joined the likes of DJ Cutter featured on Rinse FM, linking up with MC Wiley, MC Trouble and DJ Trend (RIP). Riko worked with likes of DJ Magic featuring on a track entitled "The Flavour 98" - Volume 8 - Prisoners of Technology (Fresh Kutt Records, 1998). Around 1998 Riko was in trouble with the law and his absence from the Jungle/Drum & Bass scene was felt. In 1999/2000 on his return to he joined forces with DJ Geeneus on Rinse FM now transmitting on 100.3 dial. He began MCing to Drum & Bass. With the rise and success of Pay As You Go Cartel, the crew was expanding, taking on the likes of Riko Dan, Dogzilla (O.T. Crew) and Flowdan. Riko later went on to join his sparring partner Wiley and became part of his crew the Roll Deep Entourage. Featuring on tracks with Wizzbit (DJ Geeneus), Wizzbit Feat: MC Riko – Popadomz (Gangster) - Square Recordings, 2003. The same year he mad impact with release of "Cock Back" - N.A.S.T.Y. Crew and Terror Danjah - After Shock, 2003. Not to mention the clash he had with MC Neeko, of the More Fire Crew and MC Gods Gift (MC Pepsi). Riko was back to his fully fledged self, teaming up with the reputable Durrty Goodz (known then as Durrty Doogz, part of Boyz In Da Hood and brother of Crazy Titch). Garage was now evolving into Grime and Dubstep. Riko did feature on tracks in both scenes. He known as one of the Grime Originals and has been dubbed as the "MC burier" his raw and dark lyrics combined with his yardie ragga style makes him of the most loved underground Grime lyricists and the most feared by dibby MCs and artists daring to clash him.
MC Jubilee regularly featured on Pressure FM, but after that we have little knowledge of what happened with him. If anyone does have any info give us a post and we'll add it in.
He featured on the East London rave circuit and was on line ups to flyers in between 1995-1998. Little is known about him afterwards. It has been rumoured he did MC to Garage music for short period. He was definitely an underrated MC.
There were many interesting releases in 1996, it was definitely a time when producers had built tracks for MCs to rinse out with labels like: Philly Blunt Records, V Recordings, Joker Records, Congo Natty, Dread Recordings, Dope Dragon Records, True Playaz, Ganja Records, Frontline Records, Ebony Records, Metalheadz, Tearin Vinyl, Urban Takeover, Ram Records, Suburban Base Records, Fresh Kutt Records, Third Eye Records, Flex Records, A-Ko Recordings, Aphrodite Recordings, Back 2 Basics Recordings, Formation Records, Chronic, Collusion Records, Juice Records, Full Cycle Records, Macca Records, Moving Shadow label, No Smoking Records, Proper Talent Records, Renegade Recordings, Riddim Track Records, Strictly Underground Records, 5HQ Recordings, 31 Records, Tech Itch Recordings, Creative Source label, and many other labels from that era.
