Civilian groups affiliated with the regime, backed by members of the security forces, have stepped up raids and arrests since early November.
Within six days, the raids monitoring network said that at least 17 citizens have been arrested since the beginning of the month, including the preacher Husseini Sheikh Ali Mahdi al-Sindi, professor of logic and science in the Islamic Seminary.
The raids in the Deraz area, from where he was arrested on Wednesday (November 6th), focused on five unaccounted-for youths.
Detainees are usually transferred from raids to the notorious Criminal Investigation Building, but the detention facility has been unknown since the reinstatement of the notorious National Security Service by the King of Bahrain in January 2017.
