Ollie Williams has a semi-auto, shades and sunflowers to protect.
He's in South Africa to learn more about African game, and how shooting and conservation work hand in hand here. In the first few days of a week's adventure he's positioned amongst the sunflowers and maize plants and told to shoot the doves and the pigeons coming over on flight lines. It's a world away from his low volume wood pigeon days back home in Cornwall. In this part of South Africa the bird numbers have boomed and Ollie is shown hundreds of acres of plants that are just written off. Of course nothing goes to waste and all the pigeons and doves end up in the pot.
