Viewers will also learn about the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Solar in Your Community Challenge (SIYC). The SIYC is a $5 million competition that incentivizes the development of new models that can expand solar access across America and increase energy affordability. The challenge encourages teams to demonstrate innovative business and financial models to expand access to nonprofits, faith-based organizations, state and local governments, and low- and moderate-income communities, all of which face unique barriers to installing solar. The DOE gives an overview of some of the models that have come out of the SIYC.
