Traditional masks used during Carnaval (Entrudo) celebration in the rural areas around Góis, central Portugal.
Contrary to other regions, Entrudo in this area was celebrated using masks and disguises making use of Cork extracted from the sobreiro (Cork tree) aboundant in the region ans old clothes.
Men and some women, mostly men and youths, would go from village to village misplacing objects and publicising the bad deeds of some of the inhabitants.
To do this without suffering the possible consequences the mask and the clothes should hide the identity of the masked one.
