Since 1932, that faithful old dog has been guarding his master's tucker box...5 miles from Gundagai.
The memorial was unvieiled in November of that year by Australia's Prime Minister Joseph Lyons...it was erected as a tribute to the district's pioneers.
Fifty years later, in 1982, Graeme Howie wrote this song.
It is included on a four track EP of Gundagai related songs, called "The Dog On The Fiftieth Anniversary", released by Country Man Records, CM-836.
Proceeds from the record went to the Gundagai District Hospital.
I have uploaded all four tracks to YouTube, taken from the original EP.
