IVY TV KIDS' CHRISTMAS COUNTDAY - DAY 10
You can see all the amazing content over on Instagram @ivytvkids
1. The reason fir trees are traditionally used is because they are evergreen, which means they are still bright green with lots of leaves - even during the winter.
2.Artificial Christmas trees were developed in Germany during the 19th century and later became popular in the United States. These "trees" were made using goose feathers that were dyed green and attached to wire branches.
3. Queen Victoria and Prince Albert are said to be the ones who made it extremely popular and fashionable to decorate a tree at Christmas, which is why a lot of people think that they started the tradition in Britain.
4.Ever since 1947, Norway has donated a tree to London to say thank you for helping them during World War II. A special ceremony is held in Norway in November, when the tree is cut down in the forest in Norway. Then, it comes over to the UK by sea, before being driven to London on a big lorry. It is then put up in Trafalgar Square in London.
5.Thirty-four to thirty-six million Christmas trees are produced each year and 95 percent are shipped or sold directly from Christmas tree farms.
Massive thank you to Pines and Needles for allowing me to film on their location! And thank you to Tom for being so welcoming and helping me choose a tree!
