Relationships with our mothers can be complicated. For some of us, they're beautiful and supportive, while for others of us, they may be challenging and even traumatic. The Mother Wound refers to distortions, internalized criticism, generational beliefs, and even trauma that we've held onto through our relationships with our mothers, and healing that wound can be deeply transformative.
Signs of the Mother Wound:
• Struggle to set and maintain boundaries
• People pleasing and self-betrayal
• Make decisions to please / impress / or receive validation from your mother
• Highly self critical, or have a strong inner critic voice
• Pattern of changing yourself depending on who you're around and to earn acceptance
• Critical of your own body or appearance
• Feel the need to make yourself smaller, less needy, and not be "too much" in order to be loved or accepted by others
If any of those tendencies resonate with you, you may have a mother wound that needs healing. That doesn't mean you have to think your mother is a bad mom or not have a good relationship with her, it just means that as a child or a teenager, you internalized your perception of your relationship with your mother in a way that is no longer serving you now.
This guided EFT Tapping will help you release those expectations, heal your inner child, and acknowledge the parts of you that have felt unseen, unheard, and unloved.
