The aim of a clinical practice guideline is to create best practices and optimize patient care. Clinical practice guideline development involves systematic synthesis of evidence and translation of the highest quality of evidence into practice recommendations by a multidisciplinary panel.
The George Institute organised a lecture on "Developing Clinical Practice Guidelines" and was delivered by Distinguished Professor Gordon Guyatt, from the Department of Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics, McMaster University. He spoke about the steps in clinical practice guideline development process and methods to maintain transparency of panel decisions. Followed by the lecture there was a Q and A session, moderated by Professor Vivekanand Jha, Executive Director, George Institute for Global Health, India.
