Instead, Labour and Conservative politicians speak of ‘narrative’.
‘Narrative’ is superficial and short-term. It is merely about what sounds good for the current news cycle and can be changed at will. Unlike ‘story’, it does not imply a long-term strategic plan or ambition – and it won’t get houses built.
