During a crisis, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, some people turn to their faith, or other sources of meaning and purpose, as a source of support, strength, and resilience.
When mental health professionals are able to engage their clients’ source of spirituality, they are leveraging these strengths toward the wellness outcomes they are seeking with their clients.
Unfortunately, there are some mental health professionals who are uncomfortable raising issues related to religion and spirituality. As a result, clients feel less willing to engage their spirituality meaningfully in their treatment.
This webinar will highlight why and how mental health professionals can engage spirituality and religious belief in their treatment protocols when dealing with a client who finds this helpful. It will also discuss how the language of spirituality and belief may be helpful in the midst of the crisis in guiding clinicians and clients to understand their sources of challenge as well as strength.
