I’m going to be going over the entire timeline of the Rachel Oates VS Gabbie Hanna drama, and talking about the most recent video Rachel Oates posted, addressing her parody book she wrote inspired by Gabbie Hanna’s book Adultolesense. If you’re already caught up to date with the previous drama involving Gabbie Hanna and Rachel Oates and just want to hear about the most recent video Rachel posted, skip to the time stamp on the screen. So in 2017 Gabbie Hanna released her debut book. It’s a collection of poems and the book is titled “Adultolesense”. When researching for this video, I couldn’t find any type of “i released a book!” video uploaded from Gabbie Hanna but I feel like I remember her definitely dedicating an entire video to get people to pre-order the book. In a video still up on her channel titled “we need to talk” Gabbie Hanna does say that “pre-orders are doing really well” in regards to her book but this couldn’t have been the first time she talked about it right? But it appears to be the first video CURRENTLY on Gabbie Hanna's channel talking about the book- leaving me to believe she has either privated or deleted her initial video announcing the news of the book. In this mukbang style video, Gabbie Hanna shows her book and says there’s 2 “ super limited edition” colors that the book cover was printed in. Gabbie Hanna says that the peach colored cover and the white cover version of the book would only be printed the first round….but lo and behold...i went to her website 4 years after the book initially released and guess what colors the book comes in???? In the video, Gabbie Hanna also announces she would be going on a book tour and that was basically all she has on her channel as of today, leading up to the release of Adultolescence. Fast forward 2 years to 2019. Rachel Oates, a youtuber known for reviewing books posts a video, yep you guessed it, reviewing Gabbie’s book. The video in Rachel Oates' own words “accidentally blew up” receiving over 1 million views, and this video was the “start” of the “let’s roast gabbie hanna’s book” train. But let me remind you, Rachel Oates has SEVERAL videos on her channel reviewing and critiquing books written by other authors and celebrities such as Lana Del Rey, Lili Reinhart, Halsey, and yes..Gabbie Hanna. Before she even begins talking about the book, Rachel starts the video off by saying that poetry is completely subjective and what one person likes and doesn’t like is completely up to them. Rachel says that Gabbie Hanna’s poetry was very shallow and says it’s very “what you see is what you get”. Throughout the video, Rachel reads a handful of poems from Gabbie Hanna’s book, bringing up what she thinks could’ve done better, why she didn’t like certain parts of poems, and even read poems from other authors to further prove points that she was making about poetry. When watching this video, it’s clear that Rachel Oates has a true passion and love for poetry and words her critiques in such an intelligent yet respectful way. She truly was talking about the content in the book. This wasn’t a hate video on Gabbie Hanna, but of course, many would go on to say Gabbie took it that way.
