Eighth Edition was a major shift for Magic the Gathering, introducing several templating changes and the like. Beyond the changes to the core rules and design also came with it the beginning of the “Modern” era of Magic as that is the first set legal in the Modern format. In the years since Magic has only kept changing, leaving some cards left behind by comparison. Today we’ll be looking at some of the most powerful cards from the Pre-Modern era of Magic the Gathering and why they’re not as good as they once were
