00:00 Hello my friends.
00:05 In this modelling project, I am building a multipart project of the Tornado GR1/IDS in scale 1 to 48 from Italeri.
01:53 The following project is inspired by real events.
02:26 This is the box of the Tornado GR1/IDS in scale 1 to 48 from Italeri. Hopefully it is a good kit.
02:37 The box includes many, too many, decals🤣
02:41 I will decide later on which ones I am going to use.
02:48 Also, includes the manuals & papers of the 11 steps model kit.
03:00 Last, it has lots of normal sprue & some clear sprue.
03:07 Starting with the cockpit, cutting & then smoothing out the parts with the hobby knife, file &/or sandpaper. When needed, using the hobby knife carefully in the opposite direction to avoid cutting or damaging the parts.
03:54 The seat has harnesses & seat belts but I will decide later on if I will use my own custom solution or not.
04:27 The kit has some good details here too.
04:33 Decision is made. Moving forward with my own custom solution for the harnesses & seat belts. Removing the kit ones.
05:00 Gluing.
05:35 Special copper wire for jewelry 0.3 mm (about 0.011811 inches) & a piece of wooden stick in order to make the metallic parts of the harnesses & seat belts, like so.
06:09 Attaching the rings on the belt. Also, will be measuring the belt's length against the seat & will be reducing it when needed.
07:13 Adding a small wire, super gluing & cutting when needed.
07:40 Will repeat the same for a 2nd piece off camera.
07:55 Using metal foil made this seat belt buckle part. Super gluing.
08:20 Prepared off camera the other half of the belt & its buckle part using the previous technique. Super gluing.
08:31 Done off camera. Prepared 2 more pieces & gluing all the harnesses & seat belts pieces together.
10:01 Off camera twisted couple wires of 0.4 mm (about 0.015748 inches) in order to make the ejection handles. Cutting, bending, etc.
10:47 Using wires of 0.4 mm (about 0.015748 inches) & 0.2 mm (about 0.007874 inches) to create the oxygen's system tubes. Wrapping the thinner wire around the thicker one, cutting, gluing, etc when needed, like so.
11:52 Bent this, added these details here & here. Carved these 2 small holes here & using wire of 0.2 mm (about 0.007874 inches) going for the illusion of couple pipes. Super gluing.
13:03 Placing couple pieces inside the cockpit. On one of the 2 I attached few blue styrofoam pieces for extra detail that usually can be found built-in in other kits.
13:22 Prepared a styrene of 0.2 mm (about 0.007874 inches) & super gluing to cover this gap here.
13:41 Done off camera. Attaching this piece.
13:50 Placed some metal foil that may look ugly now but with the paint job later on it will be fine. Using wires of 0.2 mm (about 0.007874 inches) going for the illusion of cables.
14:37 Combined many wires into couple pieces. Gluing like so.
15:04 German Panzer Gray primer. Airbrushing.
15:35 Airbrushing with gray which is a little bit lighter than the primer.
16:14 Olive drab.
16:58 Flat black.
17:22 Olive drab & flat black are done off camera. Painting with yellow & will finish off camera.
17:49 Heavy khaki.
18:09 Metallic silver.
18:41 Light gray. As always will fix any mistakes later on.
18:58 At this point I was very, VERY, disappointed from Italeri's kit which even though it includes so many decals, it has none for the cockpit panels. Starting with flat green & then with black but will be using white, green, red, etc as the time goes by.
20:42 Done off camera. Placing the seats, front panel, etc.
21:49 The story so far.
22:25 Glossy varnish. 2 or maybe 3 coatings but will do only 1 on camera.
22:35 Enamel black washing.
23:48 Using a cotton swab & a brush to edit the wash.
25:22 Done fixing the wash. Must let it dry very well & then will do some dry brushing here & there. The story so far.
26:25 Dry brushing with gun metal gray to highlight things here & there.
26:40 Hopefully you liked the project & please be patient for the release of its presentation. Because I love this amazing art & I strive to be better, please do help me by sharing your words of wisdom in the comments below.
