Along with some bodily changes your entire lifestyle undergoes massive changes. You must have heard from a lot of people that you must wisely choose your food items during pregnancy because you are now eating for two. For a happy healthy pregnancy, you must relish good food items because they provide nourishment to you and your baby. There are certain FOODS TO AVOID DURING PREGNANCY because they can pose a threat to your baby. By simplifying this, below mentioned are some of the food items that you must avoid:
ALCOHOL- It might not be a food item but this beverage should be strictly avoided because consuming alcohol during pregnancy can cause stillbirth and miscarriage. Alcohol does not get filtered by the placenta and can directly reach your baby via an umbilical cord. It can cause physical and intellectual disability in the child and one of those conditions is called FASD (Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder). If you are addicted to alcohol then you must have a word with your doctor once. It increases the anxiety level in your baby and hinders the proper growth and development of the various organs like the brain, digestive system, etc.
ASAFOETEDIA/HING- The pungent flavor and strong aroma of Hing can cause nausea. After consuming this spice most pregnant women complain that they experience high blood pressure levels, burping, diarrhea, swollen lips, gastric, and throat infection. It also increases the chances of miscarriage.
COFFEE- If you are fond of drinking coffee then you have to get rid of this habit during your pregnancy because consuming caffeine can dehydrate your body, and leads to excessive urination. Ensure that you are not drinking more than 2 cups a day because excessive consumption of caffeine can lead to stillbirths, fetal deaths, and low birth weight in the child.
ALOE VERA- Aloe Vera gel/juice might be full of nutrients, fiber, and good for your gut but during pregnancy it acts as a uterine stimulant. Consuming aloe vera during pregnancy might lead to contraction of the uterus, pelvic hemorrhage, and miscarriage.
DRUMSTICK- Although drumstick is one of those green vegetables that are full of nutrients like iron, potassium, calcium, and vitamin A and C, if consumed by a pregnant woman then it can lead to miscarriage. This vegetable contains alpha-sitosterol and if it gets in touch with a hormone called estrogen in your body then it increases the chances of miscarriage.
When you are a foodie and you get pregnant, then most people will come up to you and will ask you one common question:” how will you give up on all those delectable delicacies? Then to answer that question you must make up your mind that to get a happy, healthy baby you might have to sacrifice eating some food items which are not safe for you to consume during pregnancy.
