This was pretty much improvised out of a hardware synth setup plus some strings and piano sounds played live in Ableton, then rearranged in three distinctive sections.
Section 1 uses the Circuit Tracks for drums and and a synth track, which gets doubled eventually by a heavily modulated HP filter patch from Behringer’s Model D (the HP filter on the Model D is actually awesome!).
Section 2 (2:28) adds some pretty random “as played” piano arpeggios to the mix, from a Keystep synced to Live’s master clock. The string melody of the previous section is used again transposed an octave up. There’s also a MS20 plugin sub line which is the only sound material added after the improvisation.
Section 3 (5:07) replaces the Circuit/Model D setup for a Launchpad MK3 sequencing a Novation Bass Station 2 and Korg Microsampler. There’s also a second section of strings along with some new arpeggiated piano lines from the Keystep.
MAX4Live oscilloscopes and stuff for visualization this time. Hope you like it.
