Caudal mandibular fractures in cats and TMJ injuries are
difficult to stabilize using open surgical techniques. In
cases with minimally displaced subcondylar and
pericondylar fractures without joint involvement, the
labial button technique can provide sufficient
stabilization for healing in 4-5 weeks. Less discomfort is
expected than completely locking the bite using a
composite bridge between the upper and lower canines.
