James Scott's first published composition. He was eighteen years old at the time and working for his publisher, Dumars Music Co. in Carthage, Missouri as an instrument demonstrator and doing odd jobs. His skill at the piano was attracting attention and he was starting a lengthy career as a performing musician. Many ragtime compositions followed and he met his idol Scott Joplin who set him up with his own publisher John Stark in St. Louis. James Scott became one of the most prominent ragtime writers of all time.

This is a reproduction of the original score. I have changed the high note at measure 30 from F to G; at measure 66 a natural was added to the left-hand Bs.
