The first Singaporean to get entitled with the accolade widely appreciated as the Nobel Prize in geography is a who professor specializing in migration terms and issues from the National University of Singapore (NUS).
On October 12th, Tuesday, NUS announced in a statement that the Raffles Professor of Social Sciences and Director for Humanities and Social Science Research serving at the NUS Office of the Deputy President, Professor Brenda Yeah has been entitled and appreciated with the International Vautrin Lud Prize 2021.
In the field of geography, when geographers pull off fantastic and extraordinary achievement, they are awarded with this Prize. The award has been titled after the name of Vautrin Lud who has been a scholar from the 16th century. The credits of naming of the New World 'America' from Amerigo Vespucci has been given to him.
Since the year 1991, this honorary award has been received by a single laureate each year that is decided by a five-member international jury at Saint-Die-des-Vosges in France, in the International Geography Festival.
