-----------
First and foremost, I want to thank Justin Jones for allowing me to use his beautiful music "Yasmin's Heart" for this video. There's some incredible pieces on his channel and you should check them out [ Ссылка ]
I don't know about you, but prior to EOTD, I felt like there was key information missing in Yaz's backstory, as if she was withholding from the viewer themselves. Getting bullied, having the class turn against her, her running away (which I interpret as a suicide allegory), her talk with the police officer about how it would get better eventually. While all good storylines on their own, Yaz being queer has now given context and depth to her experiences. In my opinion it was the missing piece for me to finally "get" Yaz and her motivations as a character. Now, what I see, is that Yaz's classmates could see that she was queer in some way and ostracised her. Unable to tell her family what she was going through, and unable to confront her true feelings, she tried to "run away". She was told that things would get better, and they did with time. She stands up to the Izzy Flints of the world both through her work and her travels with the Doctor.
I'm curious: what is everyone's interpretation of Yaz's sexuality? I personally see her as someone who thought that relationships just weren't for her ("married to the job", as her sister once said). But she is realising that she is not disinterested in relationships, just disinterested in having them with men. There is no right or wrong answer as nothing has been explicitly confirmed at this stage, so not to say that those who think she is bi or pan are wrong, just that this is how I interpret her. Please keep discussion civil in the comments :)
