New 2023 Mazda CX-50 - Wonderful Crossover SUV
Mazda North American Operations recently premiered the Mazda CX-50 crossover SUV soon to be released for the North American market. The CX-50 is a crossover SUV that will be added to our North American lineup to meet the needs of local customers, especially those in the U.S., who look for an SUV-like presence and off-road performance in their vehicle. It is also a core model that will support Mazda’s operations in the U.S., a major market for the company, and will be the first model to be produced at Mazda Toyota Manufacturing U.S.A., Inc., a joint venture factory between Mazda and Toyota, in Huntsville, AL, when production starts in January 2022.Blending Kodo design’s elegance and quality with the power and sturdy functionality expected of an SUV, the CX-50 is a crossover SUV with an outdoor-capable presence that respectfully interacts with the surroundings.
With a ground clearance that provides a sense of security when driving off-road, the model also offers ideal vehicle height and length for easily loading and securing common outdoor equipment, a user-friendly trunk space and a Panorama Sunroof, all for customers to enjoy the great outdoors even more.
Mazda has so far provided only a few details about the new CX-50.It will have two engine choices, a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter engine or a 2.5-liter turbocharged engine—both four cylinders and paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. However, it did not provide horsepower, torque or fuel economy ratings for either engine. All-wheel drive is standard. That said, the naturally aspirated 2.5-liter in the current CX-5 delivers 187 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque. The turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder in the CX-5 produces 250 horsepower and 320 pound-feet of torque on premium fuel, slightly less on regular. It’s a good bet that the output figures CX-50 powertrains will fall in the same neighborhood. Additionally, Mazda said it would add electrified powertrains, including a traditional hybrid model, in the coming years. Mazda equipped the CX-50 with its new Mazda Intelligent Drive Select, or Mi-Drive, all-wheel-drive system. It has four modes, all of which are intended to give the CX-50 the same driving dynamics regardless of road or terrain conditions, said Dave Coleman, the automaker’s manager of vehicle dynamics.
