The UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) predicts that 2022 will see a record high number of forcibly displaced people globally, with more than 100 million fleeing their homes. While several conflicts, across continents, constitute a major cause of displacement, climate change, food scarcity, and economic crises are also aggravating factors. Given the many drivers of forced global migration, there is a need for an ever more coordinated humanitarian and political response worldwide. This session will assess how to better address refugees and displaced people’s situations, protect the most vulnerable and tackle the root causes, with perspectives from decision-makers and experts from around the world.
