“Soul Control” was the very first Mocky song ever released and until now was not available on streaming services. Back in the days when Mocky was going between the London, Amsterdam, and Berlin club scenes, working as a hype man with fellow Canadian crew alumni Peaches and Gonzales and learning how to use computer software while being a part of Gaialive, one of the world's first internet radio stations in London where Mocky would be soaking up the sounds of the who is who of the vibrant London NuJazz/Broken Beats/Electronic music scene. Somewhere around this time, Mocky created "Soul Control” which found its way to legendary DJ Steven De Peven who originally released it on the underground label “Zephon’s Mom” (now "Red Nose District”) and later on the original and Japanese versions of Mocky's debut album “In Mesopotamia". On “Soul Control” you can already hear the seeds of Mocky' s signature eclectic mix of futuristic jazz, funk, and electronic music.
