Juglas Canal is part of the Gauja-Daugava waterway, connecting Lielais Baltezers with the Jugla River. It runs through the Bukulti neighborhood of Riga and the villages of Bukulti and Priedkalne in the Garkalne parish of Ropaži municipality. The canal is crossed by Jaunciema gatve.
History
In the late 13th century, the southern shore of Lake Ķīšezers belonged to the Livonian Order.
In 1297, the Order built a stone castle and water mill on the Bērzupīte (Bukulti stream), known as the New Mill (Novum Molendinum or Neuermühlen) or Bukulti Castle.
The canal was dug between 1901 and 1903, mainly following the former bed of the Bukulti stream.
