In this video I am reading from chapter XVIII titled "The Origin of Machu Picchu" from the book titled " - Inca Land - (Machu Picchu) Explorations in the Highlands of Peru" Written by Hiram Bingham in 1922. In this chapter Hiram Bingham argues why he believes that Machu Picchu was the place of Tampu-tocco. Tampu-tocco is the name of a semi-legendary city where the first Inca, Manco Cápac, is said to be from. At the time of the Spanish conquest, the Indians located Tampu-tocco instead of the village of Paccari Tampu. However, Hiram Bingham, the explorer who had discovered Machu Picchu, believed that the latter could be Tampu-tocco. In this chapter he puts forward several reasons why it is more logical to think that Machu Picchu is the place of Tampu-tocco.
