EASSI, with support from Global Affairs Canada through TradeMark East Africa, produced this video documentary on the exploitation and abuse of Women Cross Border Traders (WCBTs) in the East African Community. The documentary was aimed at generating the evidence needed to advocate for gender-sensitive policies, that promote a safe and friendlier trading environment for women.
The Gender-Based Violence (GBV) lived experiences of women cross-border traders who were captured at the borders of Busia, Goli, Isebania, and Mutukula.
Through this documentary, EASSI hopes to foster regional policy discourse on eliminating violence against women in cross-border trade.
