New Mitsubishi ASX 2023 Revealed! PHEV Crossover Preview Specs and Features
The 2023 Mitsubishi ASX premieres in Europe as a compact crossover offering ICE, hybrid, and PHEV variants. Sales begin in March 2023.
The ASX wears heavily sculpted exterior styling. In front, the vehicle's grille has bracket-shaped trim, and the headlights have a complicated shape with hook-shaped running lights below the main lamps. The crossover comes in six colors, and upper-level trims are available with a black roof.
Depending on the trim level, the ASX's cabin can look very different. The entry-level model gets an analog instrument cluster with a 4.2-inch screen between the gauges. There's also a 7.0-inch digital instrument display or a 10.25-inch version for the range-topping model.
Just like the exterior design, Mitsubishi has copied Renault’s engine options, which will be familiar to fans of the French vehicle. The range opens with a 1.0-liter, three-cylinder engine that makes 90 hp (67 kW/91 PS).
Next, there is a 1.3-liter turbocharged gas engine that is available with two power outputs, and features 12-volt mild-hybrid technology. The powertrain is offered with 138 hp (103 kW/140 PS) and a six-speed manual transmission, or with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and 155 hp (116 kW/158 PS).
The 2023 ASX also comes with a suite of advanced safety features. These include standard rear-end collision warning system with emergency brake assist and pedestrian and cyclist detection, in addition to active lane keeping, and traffic sign recognition. Blind spot assist, active lane tracking, speed warning, adaptive cruise control, and high-beam assist are also available.
The highest trim models are also available with MI-PILOT, which combines the adaptive cruise control and active lane centering to take over some driving functions when you’re on the road.
