macadii's Pokemon Team building guide: Today I will be showing you how to build a competitive pokemon team for Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. I will be doing this by taking you through my basic recipe to build a balanced pokemon team. Competitive Pokemon teambuilding is a difficult thing to master and this video will hopefully help you out. This video is useful for 6v6 battling in Pokemon Showdown as well as in-game.

1) If you are new to the tier then you need to look at usage stats to identify the tiers main threats. This is on the Smogon site and I will link it here:

2) I go by a general recipe where the team has to have 1x special wall, 1x physical wall, 1x tank 1x setup sweeper, 1x scarfer, 1x lead. I will go through the requirements of each class using one of my NU teams as a case study
3) Special and physical walls:
• Cover each other’s weaknesses
• Counter the major offencive threats in the tier
• Ideally have access to some form of recovery
• In this case thick fat specially defensives miltank and physically defensive vileplume work well together because they cover each others weaknesses. They also counter some of the major tier threats such as Typhlosion Feraligatr and Sawk
4) Your walls will struggle against set up sweepers so you need a tank that hits hard and can take hits well. For the NU case I use an assault vest Regirock, which has good access to coverage alongside excellent bulk that allows him to take a boosted hit and hit back hard
5) You then want a Pokemon that can outspeed and revenge kill your opponents threats. This pokemon needs to have high offensive power, good speed and good coverage. For the NU case I use Sawk, who has access to high powered moves and has sturdy which allows him to survive at least one hit
6) You also need to have a pokemon that can use setup to break through your opponents team. This pokemon needs to have enough bulk to take a hit and enough speed enable it to sweep
7) You need to decide what your lead will be. A standard lead has access to stealth rocks but there are a wide range of types to choose from
8) Try to balance special/physical offensive 50/50
9) Make the choice if you want your team to have access to rapid spin/defog. If you are not then you need to avoid having to many pokemon weak to rocks
10) Test extensively
11) Speed creep
