Michael F. Moore and André Aciman visit Rizzoli Bookstore to celebrate the launch of Moore's long-awaited new translation of The Betrothed. This is the first new English translation of Alessandro Manzoni's masterpiece in over fifty years.
Michael F. Moore is the former chair of the Translation Committee of the PEN America Center and of the Advisory Board of the PEN-Heim Translation Fund. For many years he was an interpreter on the staff of the Italian Mission to the United Nations. His translations from Italian include Agostino by Alberto Moravia, The Drowned and the Saved by Primo Levi, Live Bait by Fabio Genovesi, and Lost Words by Nicola Gardini.
André Aciman was born in Alexandria, Egypt and is an American memoirist, essayist, novelist, and scholar of seventeenth-century literature. He is the New York Times bestselling author of Call Me by Your Name and Find Me as well as of Out of Egypt and other novels, essay collections, and Audible novellas. Aciman is the director of The Writers’ Institute and is Distinguished Professor of Comparative Literature at the Graduate Center, CUNY.
