If you are thinking about things to do in Sarajevo we have you covered. Day trips from Sarajevo to Mostar Old Bridge and Dervish House Bosnia. This family fun adventure continues in Sarajevo Bosnia. We leave Sarajevo for a day trip to BLAGAJ and Mostar to check out the Dervish monastery that's nearly 600 years old. The monastery sits on the Buna river. There wasn't much to see at the house it was lightly decorated with relegious painting and publications throughout the property but you do get a sense of what it would have looked like when it was fully operational. After our tour of the house we had lunch at one of the restaurants by the river.
Our journey continued to the city of Mostar to visit the old bridge. This bridge crosses the river Neretva connecting the two parts of the city. The views from both sides of the bridge are breathtaking. We went to the the river side and saw the remains of the bridge that was destroyed during the war.
Driving through Sarajevo city you see a lot of buildings riddled with bullets holes. A constant reminder of the war that occurred between 1992 to 1995. Our tour guide told us stories of his personal experience during the war. It was difficult to hear but the people of Sarajevo are very strong and rebuilding the city it's former glory.
Another popular destination in Sarajevo is the Trebevic mountain. From this mountain you get a perfect look at Sarajevo. This mountain was the host for the 1984 Winter Olympics. We tried bobsledding and had so much fun. Our last day in Sarajevo ended with some delicious Salep a favorite warm treat in Sarajevo
