Numerous studies have proven the positive effects good nutrition can have on wound healing, which is a vital part of plastic surgery. But in plastic surgery, there is not routine evaluation of patient nutrition nor is there an across-the-board strategy to safely overcome patient malnutrition. A new plastic surgery hot topic study takes the first step toward developing such a strategy: education.
In this video, Rod J. Rohrich, MD (Editor-in-Chief of “Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery”) interviews one of the study’s authors, Rebecca Knackstedt MD, PhD (Plastic Surgeon from Cleveland, Ohio) about her team’s comprehensive, evidence-based review of available nutritional supplements that can be considered for plastic surgery patients.
