Take a look at 5 of the 22 accessible parks in the Denver Mountain Parks system.
Summit Lake is the highest elevation city park in the United States and is a National Landmark because of the presence of rare alpine plant communities that only occur here outside of the Arctic Circle. It’s also above treeline on the highest paved road in America and a great place to watch for bighorn sheep and other wildlife.
O'Fallon is a beautiful stream-side park where visitors can take a short accessible walk along Bear Creek, fly fish, or have a picnic by the water. The rock formations and trail system make it one of our most scenic canyon parks.
Genesee is the largest and oldest Denver Mountain Park, and the surrounding community of Genesee takes its name from the park. Here visitors can view one of Denver’s two conservation bison herds, go camping at the historic Chief Hosa Campground (one of the oldest motor campgrounds in the country), go mountain biking, spend a day on a ropes course, or access one of the most remote trails close to Denver.
Red Rocks isn't just a great place to catch a show, enjoy the beautiful and unique red rock formations, abundant wildlife and panoramic views which include downtown. The park is also a National Historic Landmark and it is one of the greatest achievements of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), a depression-area work relief program from the 1930s-1940s.
Dedisse is located in the community of Evergreen and is a popular destination for people who enjoy the lake. The park is popular for fishing, paddleboarding, golfing, and elk watching in the spring and fall. Visitors should be extra cautious about elk because they area aggressive during the spring calving season and fall rut. It’s a wonderful place to listen to elk bugle.
