The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) undercover agents were able to sneak fake explosives and banned weapons through Transportation Security Administration checkpoints 95 percent of the time, the agency has announced.The findings, which were part of a DHS inspector general probe, was first reported by ABC News.In one case, an undercover agent with a fake bomb strapped to his back set off a metal detector, but the TSA screener still failed to find it during a pat down. A Department of Homeland Security spokesman told Fox News on Monday that DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson "immediately" directed changes upon learning of the investigation's findings, "to address the issues raised in the report." Officials would not divulge the exact time period of the testing other than to say it concluded recently at dozens of airports across the U.S. The series of tests were conducted by Homeland Security Red Teams who pose as passengers and attempt to find vulnerabilities in current security systems.
