Jamie Wakefield is a graduate engineer at Reaction Engines Ltd., having joined the graduate scheme in October 2019. His first placement has been within the design team, working primarily on the heat exchanger comprising the regenerator sub-system for the SABRE demonstrator engine. He has also worked as a design engineer in the applied technologies department, which has been applying Reaction Engines’ revolutionary heat exchanger technology to applications in motorsport.
Jamie graduated from the University of Bristol in July 2019 with a Master of Engineering degree in Aerospace Engineering. In university he specialised in aerodynamics, stability analysis and control systems and his master’s research focused on the development of a novel coupled flight mechanics model for tiltrotor stability analysis. He presented this research at the AIAA Aviation conference in June 2019, and has been awarded the Airbus prize and Raoul Hafner prize from the University of Bristol for the research.
