At least six people have died and 22 are seriously injured after a train derailed and hit the platform at a station in central France, leaving several carriages torn open and one lying on its side.
Officials said dozens of other passengers were being treated in nearby hospitals for minor injuries, with Interior Minister Manuel Valls saying the death toll could rise.
The train veered off the track en route from Paris to the city of Limoges at the station of Bretigny-sur-Orge, 26 km south of Paris.
President Francois Hollande said there would be a thorough investigation into what had happened and sympathised with families over the time it would take to identify victims. Report by Sophie Foster.
