What's up everybody. It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna be checking out the BAKFlip Fibermax hard tonneau cover on our 2021 Ford F-150. Now it's gonna be a trifold hard tonneau cover. So that means it folds up in three spots, leans against the back of your cab. That way you have full bed access when you need it, but you also have a cover when you need that too.

Let's check it out. The Fibermax hard tonneau cover is gonna made out of aluminum and fiberglass. So it's pretty sturdy. So picking this one as a hard Tonneau cover is a good choice. The soft ones tend to bow in different parts, so you'd worry about snow when it collects or rain.

You kind of, usually those only have a couple bars that go across as support, so it could kind of bow in those situations. You won't have that problem with this one. Plus if you wanna throw your cooler up here for a second, when you, you know, before you lift it up you can just throw it on top. You don't have to worry about that on there. Now it is a textured finish up top and a trifold design.

So what I mean by that is I'm gonna lower the tailgate and show you. So just come right here and pull on this and that's what releases it. You have the strikers on the side you can see a better idea there. So pulling on this one, pulls them on both sides. And when you wanna fold up to get access this is how you do it.

So there's that one there. And at this position, there's another cable that you'll pull to get it to go again. And then one more time, we have this one and release it. It can go up and now with the pads installed on this side I can lean it against the cab and not worry about it scratching the glass or anything. So it can sit up like that. And another nice feature it has is you got the arms here on both sides. This is one of the unique tonneau covers that you can actually drive down the road, if you install these arms and tighten this down on both sides, and have full bed access. So that kind comparing it to the ones that have the canisters the canister would sit down in here and that's nice that it does come all the way in. It would go into that canister but that canister's gonna take up a bunch of space here in your bed. This way you get the maximum use out of your entire bed and you still have the tonneau cover. Now it's pretty easy to uninstall too. So if you needed full bed access you'd undo the hand knobs here lift it and remove it and have your full bed. The only thing you really sacrifice is looking through the back window on your F-150. You can see with this pushed up against the cab. You're not gonna be able to see how that back window. Even without the canister, we do have the drainage tubes here that run to the bottom. So that's something just to look out for. If you're throwing this thing, jam packing it with cargo. You don't wanna accidentally knock that out but we've got the tubes pretty far down there. So it's not gonna be easy like to just pop it right back out or remove it from the top. They do stay on there pretty well. Let's see if I can get my hands on that from here and see that just pulling on it, it's not gonna just pop off super easily or anything. Another good reason to get a tonneau cover in the winter when it sleets or snows you don't have to spend all that time cleaning out the bed. Now today, before we did our install, we had to chip away and get a lot of these ice chunks and snow out of the back of the bed. So then there was room for me to actually work in there but with the tonneau cover, we would've never had to do that. Another position, you can put it in, if you want that back window and want most of your bed is you drop into place there, and it has these integrated buckles. So that's really just to save the buckle there but you can also buckle it up on both sides to help hold this down. You can still travel like this as well. In combination with the drainage tubes we have the seal here on the outside, that's just gonna help with that water. It's gonna keep that water from getting in there and really protect both sides. It's the weather strip that goes all the way down and you see it fits on there pretty good. It covers up. It might let a little bit in here, but otherwise it's pretty sealed up all the way around. That being said how hard is it to install It actually isn't that bad. Didn't take us that long to do it, might help to have a second set of hands just to help you hold the rails up when you're doing the clamps, but otherwise pretty easy. Now it says no drilling required, so you won't have to drill into the bed of your truck. However, we did have to drill
