Elektra Amplifiers meets Ray Nijenhuis to find the holy grail combination that makes Charlie Christian's iconic guitar tone.
In this video, Ray Nijenhuis and Michiel Helsloot compare the vintage ES-150 & EH-150 guitar/amp combination to their modern counterparts, a Slaman DS-250 guitar and an Elektra 'The 185' amplifier. In the comparison, they dive into volume, gain and tone settings of the modern and vintage combination to nail that elusive Charlie Christian 'pop'.
Raymond Nijenhuis is an authority on Charlie Christian style playing, as well as Western Swing, Blues, Jump Blues, jazz and pre-war electric guitar styles in general.
He recently published his Western Swing guitar course on Truefire. The online course can be purchased here: [ Ссылка ]
