Shooting Chrony vs. Oehler 35P Chronograph. 20 shots of 223 Remington. 20 shots of 5.56x45 NATO. Each shot is measured by both chronographs and compared on a shot-by-shot basis. The velocity data is presented and analyzed.
Unbox and setup..........................0:15
Data collection............................ 2:18
Velocity results and comparison....3:29
The Oehler 35P is THE chronograph, and demands a premium price. The Shooting Chrony, Alpha Master is an entry level chronograph, which did very well in the test. Velocity measurements were good, standard deviation was good (poor chronographs produce more variation), and every shot was recorded without worry. Some chronographs can be difficult to setup and use, this one was not.
At less than 25% of the cost of the Oehler, the Shooting Chrony did great and I won't be replacing it any time soon.
Also, a little on how a chronograph works.
Special thanks to my friend who lent the use of his very nice Oehler 35P for this video.
