CNN chief executive Mark Thompson will be firing 100 employees and introducing a plan to make the network “future-proof,” according to an announcement from the company. Thompson was appointed to the role last year to “modernize” the network and is endeavoring to have the staff experiment with artificial intelligence (AI), scale their digital presence to a billion-dollar company, and revamp the organizational plan of the newsrooms.
