In this episode we are fly fishing for trout during the Salmonfly hatch in June, fly fishing with the big dry flies, we catch and release some large Brown trout to three pounds. From the moment we start drifting to the boat launch the Madison River is one big riffle with boulders here and there to dodge and fish behind. It is fun, fast rowing and even more fun casting to likely areas, usually close to shore, where the Salmonflies are hatching and flying around the brush. The fish love these big bugs and this is one of the best times of year to catch big fish. We get advice and flies from the local Madison River Fishing Company in Ennis Montana ([ Ссылка ]) and learn from them that because there are so many fly fishers on the river casting similar Salmonfly patterns that a pattern that is a bit different can be more effective. So we use a darker bodied Salmonfly imitation and it works very well. The Madison River is a spectacular fishery. I hope you enjoy this episode.
