@hballantyne0 I visited Brodick Castle and loved the visit. Its been in the same family for hundreds of years before belonging to the National Trust, so it has original furnishings and decorations, and you can take photos. The walled gardens has plants and trees from all over the world, including very old trees from NZ and Australia. They were used as ballast in sailing ships in late 1700s, then thrown overboard, and self seeded. Then collectors travelled far and wide brought back plants. Amazing. The furnishings and art also reflect wide travel by the 11th Duke. There are treasure and fairy hunts for children, adventure playgrounds and miles of walks. You pay to go into the castle and the walled gardens, etc, and much of it is free. Lots of history. the Dukes of Hamilton originated from Scottish royalty and the 11th Duchess was a German Princess. Apologies - ice house was Calzean Castle on Mainland near Maybole (see that video). This photo is the passage to the jail cell.
