It is located approximately 10 minute by car from the Old Quarter and can be easily accesses by foot or taxi. You can tour the prison by yourself for only a few dollars, headset included. They have done a masterful job of piecing together and presenting the prisons history. It’s a very humbling experience that leave you thankful for what you have today, due to the sacrifices of those who came before you.
This is the #1 War tourism site in Hanoi, followed by the Vietnam Military History Museum, B52 Victory Museum, B52 lake, and the John McCain Monument on Truc Bach Lake. If you are a serious war buff, you should visit all of these sites when you are here. There is an impressive display of military equipment that you can get quite close to. Tôi Yêu Việt Nam!!
