Portrait of Sam
This is a “close, but no cigar” kind of situation. 😏
I’ve spent the last few days (or weeks I don’t really know) working on a new type of sign / pattern for #Scribi.
The idea is to create a more chaotic type of scribble whilst maintaining the portrait as close as possible to the featured of the original image. Why? I didn’t really know why until a good friend of mine which work as art curator told me: “your drawings are getting closer and closer to the laser pictures you were taking a while ago”. She’s 100% correct. It also means that id doesn’t matter what is your media of choice, eventually your true self will come out sooner or later.
I picked this picture I took of a friend of mine which I thought was suitable for what I was thinking but... meh... I think I could have chosen better.
Next steps:
1 - find a way to have more details in the eyes.
2 - a little bit more chaos everywhere else.
3 - a bit less black overall...

Meet Scribi, a machine I built from scratch that creates some crazy scribbled drawings based on raster images (such as JPG) created by an algorithm l've written in Python.
The stepper motors on either side are controlled by an Arduino Uno connected to a Raspberry Pi. I’m also using Processing 3 for more abstract drawings such as spirals and waves.
