The Nun 2 is about to terrify us in cinemas as everyone's favourite demonic nun Valak is back on our screens.
The sequel to The Conjuring 2 spin-off prequel – the entire Conjuring timeline is here if you're confused – has gained some strong first reactions, and arrives in cinemas on September 8.
But what can we expect from The Nun II?
The first Nun movie ended with appearances from Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as Ed and Lorraine Warren. It was archive footage from The Conjuring, as Frenchie was the person we saw being exorcised in the first movie.
Could we see a bigger appearance from the Warrens in the sequel? There's a long-running fan theory that Sister Irene is the younger version of Lorraine, so the sequel might be the place to confirm (or deny) it.
Along with the first trailer, we got the official plot synopsis for The Nun 2 which reads as follows:
"1956 – France. A priest is murdered. An evil is spreading. The sequel to the worldwide smash hit follows Sister Irene as she once again comes face-to-face with Valak, the demon nun."
We don't know how many Conjuring links to expect beyond Valak, but Chaves has teased that there are surprises for fans.
"Anyone who saw the first Conjuring knows that Maurice is possessed and then exorcised by the Warrens, and we know that that happens in the late '60s in the Conjuring timeline," he explained.
"This is set in the '50s so we're still a ways off from that. The events of what happens in-between this starts to fill out that story a little bit more.
"There's other big ideas and big swings in there, and it's filled with a bunch of cool Easter eggs. Without giving anything away it continues to fill out the picture and the bigger canvas."
The Nun 2 will be released in cinemas on September 8.
